About Us

St Johns pre-school is a charity run pre-school located in Macclesfield Cheshire. It was formed in 1986 and is situated on the grounds of St Johns primary school, we have a family friendly setting with a home from home feel. Our goal is to support children’s learning and development from the age of 2 to 4 years in an environment that is supportive, nurturing, fun, stimulating and safe. We can offer places for up to 26 children per day both funded and none funded and can provide tailored support to suit all children’s individual needs.

Aims of our Pre-School

Our chief priority at St. Johns Pre-school is the happiness and emotional balance of the children. In a warm and secure environment the child learns to relate to others, both adults and children. He or she learns to work and play alongside the other children and co-operate with them, gradually developing confidence, independence and the ability to use initiative.

Play is vitally important at this stage of a child’s development. It is from play that they gain experience to form their concepts and understanding of what they are learning.

Language is very important in our programme and the staff work with all children to encourage speech and purposeful conversation. They extend the vocabulary by talking and reading to them. Music also plays a part in our learning and the children enjoy these activities during session.

We aim to promote skills that they will later be taught in the Reception class at school. The staff have a programme of activities to stimulate the children as they increase their capabilities.

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfil their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. When parents choose to use early years services they want to know that provision will keep their children safe and help them to thrive. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the framework that provides that assurance.
